Furniture and Projects

Designer/Fabricator/Welder
Electronics Welding Metal

A round pipe chair and a mechanized desk locker I’ve been working on for furniture class.

Pipe Chair

For the Lick-Wilmerding High School “Rethinking Furniture” project, I assembled a round chair in order to refine my skills with MIG welding and precision metal machining, as well as manual metal tools. I used a cold saw to cut 1” tubes of square metal for the framing and welded the pieces together. Image slot 1

For the seat, I used a fiber laser to cut pieces of metal and rolled them into a circular structure with my team. This project was challenging, particularly cutting the exact angles of the bar pieces and welding them flush. I also had to air grind down my excess welds and residue in order to present a fully polished design.

Door System

For this project, I’m currently designing a pair of servo-operated sliding doors with an LED display and spinning lights. Inspired by retrofuturist designs, the door is designed as a small locker, around two feet tall. Most of the parts are cut out of sheet metal using the laser cutter, and I intend to use 1 1/4” bar metal for the outer frame. Using an Arduino to control my LED lights and servos, I hope to make a highly functional and technically impressive automated locker.
